Arto Lindsay-Invoke
Release Date: June 25th, 2002
Traveling effortlessly from delicate, sophisticated subtlety to sheer sonic assault and back again —sometimes within a single song — Lindsay has staked a claim for himself as a true original over the course of the last two and a half decades. On his second RBR release, Invoke, he continues and deepens an already solidly established reputation for beautifully crafted, densely textured music which is as seductive as it is thoughtful.
Special guests include Nacão Zumbi, whom Lindsay calls "one of the best bands on the planet" thanks to their blend of Brazilian folk forms with hip-hop and rock sensibilities, who collaborated on the song "Predigo." Avey Tare and Panda Bear (Animal Collective), make the eerie audio collage "In The City That Reads" one of the album's most arresting compositions. And long time collaborators - bassist Melvin Gibbs (Rollins Band), guitarist/keyboardist Andres Levin, string arranger Stephen Barber, and singer/songwriter/guitarist Vinicius Cantuária round out Invoke's outstanding contributors.
